Winter Solstice
Community Celebration

Saturday, December 19, 2015

·       4:30 – 6:00 Solstice Play & Children's Day Candlelight Ceremony

·       6:00 – 7:00 Potluck

·       7:00 – 9:00 Socializing & Dance

At a time when darkness is prevalent, we turn to family for celebration, creativity, and generosity. Because the solstice marks the time of year when daylight has waned and the night is longest, light is a special characteristic of this holiday. In particular, though, we celebrate our children and their natural ability to remind us of the warmth, heart, and cheerfulness of basic goodness.

Celebration of the winter solstice has its roots in many different cultures. The Shambhala Community has drawn on traditional images associated with this time of year to create a distinctive and rich festival of our own.

Join us to greet the King and Queen of Shambhala with festive singing, winter solstice play and enjoy the children’s candlelight ceremony. The festivities will continue with a community potluck, offerings by community members, and a dance.

Attend all or part of the event, all ages welcome!

Please confirm attendance by December 11 at the following survey linkhttp://goo.gl/forms/TVFDN56yW9  to allow us time to prepare the material required for the event.

$5 suggested donation at the door. Please bring an offering gift for a needy child (mark the gift with the age and gender it is appropriate for).
