Members Book Club: The Heart of Unconditional Love
Join us as we discuss The Heart of Unconditional Love, A Powerful New Approach to Loving-Kindness Meditation, by Tulku Thondup.
In this book, Tulku Thondup presents a four-stage approach to loving-kindness meditation, with the aim of finding unconditional love in our own hearts and in our perception of the world around us as an effective path to happiness and enlightenment. The practice uses Chenrezig, the buddha of loving-kindness, as a support and is distilled from the author's lifelong study and practice of authentic, traditional Tibetan Buddhist teachings.

Tulku Thondup was a Dzogchen teacher, translator and scholar dedicated to the preservation of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. Author of many books, he came to teach twice in Ottawa, in 2002 about healing meditation, and in 2005 about death and dying. He was a realized yogi who led a simple life. The Heart of Unconditional Love was the last book he authored and he considered it very dear to his heart.
The format of the book club is a facilitated discussion where everyone can raise points coming from the week's chapter, and we reflect on them together. Reading commitment is short, usually about 15-20 pages per meeting.
Open to members of the Ottawa Shambhala Meditation Centre. This event takes place on Zoom, every other Wednesday, from 7pm to 8pm, starting on November 13, 2024.
