Windhorse is our life force, representing the unlimited energy of basic goodness. We connect with windhorse every time we feel and open our hearts. Tuning in to our personal energy, we open to the world and engage in life with skill and genuineness, able to go forward in the midst of whatever challenges occur.

This sangha retreat will integrate talks, practices, windhorse exercises, and discussion about the future of our local Shambhala community in these turbulent times. How do we individually feel about the Ottawa Centre? How can we raise windhorse to extend kindness to ourselves and others, as well as organize as a community to support volunteers, local leaders, and centre activities? What would help ensure our centre walks the talk of providing a cradle of loving kindness for our community and the public?

Everyone who has received meditation instruction and is a member or friend of the Ottawa Shambhala Meditation Centre is warmly welcome to participate in this retreat. Those who have already received instruction in specific windhorse practices will have an opportunity to review and practice them.

Henry Chapin has been a meditation instructor and teacher in Shambhala since 1978, and formerly held the title of regional shastri, or senior teacher. He is a founding member and a former director of the Ottawa Shambhala Centre. He is also involved in prison outreach and hospital chaplaincy activities.
