How Can I Help? The Basic Goodness of Society

With Mark Frutkin

Six Thursdays, November 8 – December 13, 7 pm – 9 pm

This course explores our aspiration to help our world, our relationships with others, and specific aspects of social transformation. We look at a Shambhala understanding of society, and what enlightened society might be. Is society something that is ultimately confused, or is there goodness in human society? The course focuses on transforming four aspects of society: relations with family (household), professional life, entertainment, and economy. We learn the traditional Mahayana Buddhist practice of compassion, tonglen.

This program is open to everyone.

Program price: $110
Patron price: $130

Our Generosity Policy

Offering whatever you are able to offer toward the cost of the program is generosity.

We have a “pay what you can afford” policy to make our programs accessible to everyone. If the program price is an obstacle, please offer whatever you can.

The “patron price” is for those who can offer more, and helps cover the costs for others not able to pay the full price. Any amount above the program price is considered a charitable donation, and will be included in an email tax receipt issued in February of the following year.

Mark Frutkin has been a meditator for over 40 years and is a senior teacher in the Shambhala path. He is a published author of sixteen books of fiction, poetry and nonfiction.
