April 4th (2018)

Date details +

    Parinirvana Day Wednesday April 4, 6:00 – 9:00 pm

Please register for this event  There is no cost, donations accepted.

On April 4th, we celebrate the anniversary of the parinirvana (death of an enlightened being) of the Vidyadhara, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, the founder of Shambhala.

Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche wrote the Sadhana of Mahamudra in 1968 while in deep contemplation of how to bring Buddhism to the West. This profound sadhana invokes the wrathful manifestation of Padmasambhava (the father of Tibetan Buddhism) to help us overcome obstacles and confusion during this time.
We invite all members of the community to join in the feast practice of the Sadhana of Mahamudra. There will be a celebratory period during the feast section where participants are welcome to offer devotional poems, songs, dances, and other remembrances of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche.

Please bring a dish to share keeping in mind our no nuts and seeds policy

If you are available to assist with setup, cleanup, or service during the feast, please contact Margaret Couper

If you are interested in making an offering during the feast, please also contact Margaret. [email protected]
