Ikebana is the Japanese art and contemplative practice of flower arranging dating back to the 6th century. As a “meditation in action,” Ikebana helps us connect to the present moment and wakes up our sense perceptions. Practitioners of this ancient discipline experience it as profound, enriching, and joyful.
Kalapa Ikebana is based on the Shambhala Art principles. The program will consist of demonstrations and hands-on practice under the close guidance of Ikebana Master Stéphane Bédard. Instructions and guidance will be tailored to the participant’s level of knowledge, so you are welcome to attend whether you are a beginner or seasoned Ikebana student.

Please note: Participants should bring clippers, containers (2 low vases, 10 to 12 inches in diameter, 1.5 inch in height) and kenzans (2 inch diameter minimum).

PLEASE REGISTER BY  MAY 15, 2019. Space is limited. Preference will be given to those who register and prepay.  It really helps if you register early so we can provide sufficient notice if the course has to be cancelled or rescheduled due to low registration.

Please note: Scholarship(s) will be made available to those who do Ikebana for the Ottawa Shambhala Centre, wish to attend, and find the cost a challenge. Amount to be determined. Those eligible, please write to [email protected]
