New Centre Opening Celebration

The opening ceremony of the new Ottawa Shambhala Centre located at 119 Ross Avenue was held on December 6, 2014, and marked the official opening of our Centre. More than 60 members and friends attended. After a short Lhasang led by Bozica Costigliola, participants were led into the Centre by Jamie Létourneau, a local bagpiper who performed the traditional Irish song ‘Let Erin Remember’, upon which the Shambhala anthem is based.

The event continued with a resounding chorus of the Shambhala Anthem led by Sheila Craig. Director ,Tejumo Ogouma gave a welcoming speech. Drinks were served and toasts were raised to the Sakyong, Sakyong Wangmo, and the Druk Sakyong.

Suzanne Basset, our Mistress of Ceremonies for the evening, thanked all the members for their contributions to this important renovation project. The outstanding work of several of our members was acknowledged.

The evening ended with food, more drinks, conversation and dancing. Many of us enjoyed meeting some of our fellow members for the first time. We are pleased to finally have a new home where we can practice and gather as a community.
