    Chers membres et amis,

    Le Jour de Shambhala est la plus grande célébration à Shambhala. Nous nous réunissons pour marquer la nouvelle année et pour écouter les allocutions du Sakyong et de la Sakyong Wangmo. C’est l’occasion d’exprimer toute la richesse de notre héritage spirituel et culturel en festoyant dans la convivialité et avec un faste élégant.

    Le Jour de Shambhala annonce le début de la nouvelle année et représente l’une des plus importantes traditions du bouddhisme Shambhala. La date de cette journée varie chaque année, car elle est choisie selon les calculs astrologiques du calendrier lunaire de la tradition tibétaine de la nouvelle année, ou Losar. L’année qui vient sera celle du Singe de feu.

    Nous célébrerons le Jour de Shambhala le mardi 9 février, de 18 h à 21 h. Il y aura la pratique de la sadhana de L’élixir de vie, l’allocution du Sakyong, un exposé sur la campagne de financement et un repas­partage.

    Nous serons également honorés de présenter le poète officiel du Centre Shambhala d’Ottawa, Mark Frutkin, qui récitera un poème du Jour de Shambhala composé pour l’occasion.

    Nous encourageons tous les membres et amis à préparer une offrande de chanson, d’un poème, d’une danse ou toute autre chose. Vous pouvez d’ailleurs participer au concours de poésie du Jour de Shambhala organisé par la Cour de Kalapa et le Bureau de la culture et du décorum, ayant pour thème « La manifestation de la lignée Shambhala dans le monde aujourd’hui ».     Les festivités continueront pendant reste de la semaine. Des activités seront organisées par les membres du Centre. Des informations à ce sujet suivront bientôt.

    La journée avant le Jour de Shambhala et après la période de récitation du chant des mamos est une journée neutre traditionnellement consacrée à nettoyer nos foyers, nos Centres et nos autels. Une période spéciale de travail aura lieu le lundi 8 février de 18 h 30 à 20 h à cet effet.

    Dear Members and Friends

    Shambhala Day is our biggest celebration in Shambhala, as we gather to acknowledge the new year and hear from our Sakyong and Sakyong Wangmo. It is a time for us to express the wealth and richness of our spiritual and cultural heritage through feasting, conviviality, elegance and pomp.

    SHAMBHALA DAY marks the beginning of the New Year, and represents one of the most important traditions of Shambhala Buddhism. Based on the traditional Tibetan New Year’s celebration of Losar, the day is calculated astrologically according to the Tibetan lunar calendar, and changes every year to coincide with the annual lunar cycles. This year we welcome the Year of the Fire Monkey.

    Shambhala Day will be celebrated on Tuesday February 9 from 6 ­ 9 pm. We will practice the Elixir of Life Sadhana, watch the Sakyong's address, have a fundraising presentation and share a potluck meal.

    We will be truly honoured to introduce Mark Frutkin as our official Ottawa Shambhala Centre Poet Laureate and he will present a Shambhala Day Poem for the occasion.

    All members and friends are encouraged to make an offering of a song, poem, dance or other presentation. Please consider entering the The Kalapa Court and the Office of Culture and Decorum Shambhala Day poetry contest with the theme “The Shambhala Lineage manifesting in the world today.” and present your poem at the celebration (more information at http://shambhalatimes.org/2016/01/12/shambhala­day­poetry­contest­2/)

    Celebrations will continue throughout the week following Shambhala Day with activities hosted by members of the community. Watch for more information in the near future.

    The day before Shambhala Day and after the Mamo chant period, is a neutral day and is traditionally a day to clean our homes, centres and shrines. A special work party will be held Monday, February 8 6:30 ­ 8:00 pm for this purpose.

    Programs without a price are free. For those programs with a price listed, please do not let price be an obstacle. Visit our generosity policy page.

    When available as an option, your generosity in offering the patron price helps cover the costs for others who are not able to pay the full price. Any amount offered above the Program Price is considered a charitable donation to the centre, and will be included in a tax receipt issued by email in February of the following year.

    For programs that have a register button, it is helpful for us if you can indicate your intention to attend by registering ahead of time. In order to prevent duplicate entries in the Shambhala Database, all registrations are reviewed before you will receive a confirmation email.

    Our Refund Policy:  For convenience you can pay online using a credit card via PayPal. If we cancel the program for any reason, we will give you a full refund. We understand that sometimes after you have pre-paid, you might be unable to attend.  We will be happy to refund your payment if you request it at least 24 hours before the program starts.  Due to the difference in PayPal charges for purchases and refunds, we charge a nominal amount of $5 for a refund.
