Ikebana is the Japanese art and contemplative practice of flower arrangement. Dating back to the 6th century, Ikebana helps us connect to the present moment as a ‘meditation in action’.

The program will consist of demonstrations and hands-on practice in a small group, under the close guidance of Kalapa Ikebana Master Stéphane Bédard.

Those who wish to try Ikebana for the first time and seasoned Ikebana students are welcome.

Please note: Participants should bring clippers suitable to cut for branches and flowers. Please bring containers (at least 2 low vases of 11-12 inch diameter and 1 inch and ½ height) and 2 kenzans or flower frogs (2 inch diameter min.).

Register early! This Workshop is limited to 15 participants.

Stéphane Bédard, a student of the renowned Ikebana master Seibi Watanabe Sensei, has been teaching Ikebana since 1987. Within the international Shambhala Buddhist Community, he teaches Shambhala Art Workshops, the Way of Shambhala Levels, and holds the title of Kalapa Ikebana Master Instructor. He lives in Montreal, and regularly travels to teach, including to Nova Scotia, where he has a number of dedicated students.
