Our celebration began on a beautiful summer day with a lhasang in Somerset Square near the current Centre. Afterward, a communal picnic with socializing and hearty food took place in the main shrine room. It was a wonderful way to say goodbye to our current home that has served us well for over 25 years. Everyone had time to peruse the garage sale items and make a donation in return for taking home an item or two laden with rich memories.

After lunch, everyone engaged in aimless wandering in the neighborhood, and each person brought back a found object. We then created a communal art installation with our objects.

In our large communal circle, we all shared our memories of the current Centre — what it has meant to each of us, and our thoughts about the new Centre. We dedicated the merit, closed with a rousing rendition of the Shambhala Anthem, dissolved the art installation, and said our goodbyes.

We will be preparing the new Centre over the summer, and will announce its official opening once known. Looking forward to seeing all of you there!
